Seven Magic Mountains

A new art installation is being erected between the California/Nevada border and Las Vegas.  We decided to go see the art up close and personal before a myriad of people visit.  More information regarding the art can be found at this website: http://sevenmagicmountains.com/
Most of the residents of our little town were excited to see the artwork, but as always, there were a few grumblers as well.
Some were fans of the work, but not of the colors (claiming they were too vivid and clashed with the desert ... as if the garish lights on the Las Vegas Boulevard were perfectly in sync with the desert surroundings).
From the car, I found it to be interesting.  Up close, it seemed more provocative, more inspiring.  It stands over 25 feet tall and in the vast open desert area seems to loom even larger.

The gloomy feel of the rain-laden clouds seemed to diminish because of the bright hues.  I'm glad we made the walk out to the rocks rather than just viewing them from the window.
