Walking In The Dark

I miss Rhu.  So much so, that even though it was pitch black, I asked her to go for a walk with me.  I promised to stay in the yard and she seemed amiable.  She scooted ahead of me as we went through some trees. I saw the branch on the ground.  It must have touched her legs and spooked her a bit.  We'll need to work on that!  She stopped and asked Bill for snuggles at the half way point, and he obliged. Funny girl.

Walking In The Dark

It was dark already, but I figured I could still squeeze in a quick mile ... and it would be good for trust building.  I let Rhu grab a snack while I gave her a cursory grooming.

 Then we were headed out the gate and down the road.  Rhu was quite amenable, even though I didn't have any snacks tucked in my pockets.

We kept to the "normal" path because I knew the footing and was relatively sure there would be no snakes on the road.  All in all, it was an uneventful walk with my awesome mare.  Love that I can drag her out in the darkness and she doesn't give me any guff!

Rhulain Steps Out Into The Darkness

Bill woke me up at 5:20 am.  I wanted to stay in bed where it was cozy and warm.  But then I remembered today was Rhulain's day for a walk!  I have missed my gorgeous girl!   Hustled outside and realized the stars were still clearly visible. What?! 

I had to use the flash just to get a picture of her ... a black mare on a black background doesn't show up well. :)

 

We did an uneventful 2.15 miles. Dreamy. I snapped a picture of her at the halfway point and one more outside our gate.  No matter what the light, she's gorgeous and the time spent with her was well worth crawling out of bed.
