Einstein's 2nd Vacation

Einstein does well in the car ... give him a fluffy blanket and he goes right to sleep.  He's totally adorable.

We visited my hometown and watched the sun set over the water.  I wondered how many sunsets I forgot to appreciate in the 28 years I lived there.  Loved being home, seeing my parents, and smelling the salty air.

The next day we went to visit the city of Burbank, California.  Poor Einstein had to be carried in my purse for hours at a time because we went to a DVD signing for the movie "Christine."

Then we drove to Griffith Park to visit the Bronson Caves.  Why?  Well, because it's where ...

the Batmobile came out of the "Batcave" and ...
(my absolutely favorite television show of all time)
There's a wonderful view of the "Hollywood" sign and my amazing spouse

Einstein Walks The Plank

22 minutes - 1.02 miles - Rhulain, Bill with Einstein and Zeus

Bill decided to take Zeus and Einstein for our walk today.  Zeus does well on walks but Einstein has limited leash experience.  After the first couple minutes, Einstein figured out how to stay on his side and to watch Bill's feet for speed and direction.

Rhu: What are they doing over there?
Me: It looks like Bill is teaching Einstein how to walk up a plank.

Rhu: Take as long as you need little dog.  I'll be right here eating while you figure it out.
Me: Well, that didn't take long.  What, two minutes?
Rhu: Dinner's late and snacking time got cut short. Not happy.
Me: Love you Rhu!

Whirlwind Vacation

Where we're going ... where we've been

We toured much of Death Valley, visited Scotty's Castle, stayed in Tecopa Hot Springs and soaked in the mineral baths then ....

Swooped home, picked up Einstein (the puppy), and headed out again to see the giant Sequoia trees, let Einstein play in the Kern River, and stopped in random cities to shop. Almost 1,700 miles later, we pulled in to our driveway.

Kissed my horses, dogs, chickens, and even the goat.  Discovered one of our speckled hens laid her first egg ... way to go girls!  Did laundry, caught up with friends, and now getting ready for work (and horse time!).

Glad we went, glad to be home.

Hoof Trim Day

All 5 of the horses got trims this morning.  Bill was kind enough to assist the farrier while I got ready for work.
I did run out to the front porch and snapped a picture of Morgie before hopping in the shower. She looked relaxed.

Rhu seemed to be struggling and snuggled Bill for reassurance.  Bill said she had a hard time with the back hooves. Sigh. Guess we still need to work on that.

Luppy in the way back, Bosco next, Ryver in front of the barrel, Zeus and Einstein front and center

Bill let all the dogs out after the farrier left and introduced Ryver and Einstein to hoof trimmings.  Wish I was there to see the fun!
Einstein selected one larger than himself!

Our $4 for the 4th Specials

Our local kill shelter ran a $4 special for any dog that had been at the shelter for longer than 7 days.

Bill and I went to take a look around with the thought of adopting a buddy for our "outside" dog.
This was Bill's pick.  A ferocious 4 pound terrier... ferociously cute.
Yeah, he came home with us.

Meet Einstein.  He's stinking adorable.

As for me, well, I picked out a doberman pinscher named Ryver.  He's awesome.
Except he likes to give kisses.  *sigh*  Guess I'll have to get used to dog kisses.

Almost makes up for the fact I haven't ridden a horse in nearly a month.
