Saddle Time with Rhu

30 minutes - 1.41 miles - Rhulain
Foster kid was tired and went to bed early.  Bill was working with a chainsaw.  That left me free to do ... anything I want!

I grabbed Rhu, a saddle (and the new saddle pad), and ran for the gate.  We walked together for a while, then I hopped in the saddle and rode back to the house.  We jumped the log (oh how I have missed the log!), trotted a little, and backed up some dirt ramps.  She got a little huffy at the end, but we rode through it and then wandered around the yard for a short bit.  Bill told me he hadn't fed the horses yet ... that explains Rhu's grumpiness ... girl was hungry!

Rhulain Takes Some Time to Herself

43 minutes - 1.18 miles - Rhulain & Foster
Initially Rhu was cuddly, but once we got outside the gate she became aloof.
She was disinterested in anything I had to say and could care less about the foster kid.  She was in her own little happy bubble.  I rather liked her independent attitude.

Family Affair

31 minutes - 1.06 miles - Morgan, Bill & Majesty, Foster Kid
Hey Morgie girl ... I miss you ... wanna go for a walk?
Well, hey ... looks like everyone wants to go with us!
I realized how much I missed being with my husband.  I miss riding with him and our dynamic duo.  Maybe we can squeeze a ride in soon.  In the meantime, I'll enjoy the moments we get together.

Bench for Tack Shed

We bought a bench at a garage sale this weekend.  It was in sad shape and in need of a makeover.  Fortunately, we had a 14 year old girl over to help us with outside chores so she helped paint the bench.
It was her idea to splatter paint it with the lime green and purple.  It was fun and turned out great.  I loaded the bench up with all the stuff that has been laying around and I'm so glad to get it off the ground.

New Saddle Pad

14 minutes - 0.42 miles - Rhulain
Bought two new saddle pads and wanted to see how one fit.  Bad picture, but I was just trying the saddle on.  I readjusted the saddle and decided to hop on for a few minutes.
We rode around the yard for a bit ... she's rusty, and I'm rusty and in pain.  But, it was a glorious 15 minutes nonetheless.  She wanted to trot everywhere, but slowed when asked.  I'd love to take her to the arena and let her blast around.  First, I need the knee and the foot to heal up a bit more.

Ouch.

45 minutes - 1.44 miles - Rhulain
It finally cooled off enough to take Rhu for a walk ... however, it was dark and Rhu was jumpy.  I can tell I haven't had her out enough, she was in my space too much.  At one point, she spooked and came down on my right foot.  I prayed she didn't break any bones.
We finished our walk and headed home.  Once inside the gate, I hopped on her bareback and we wandered around the yard a bit.  Sliding off, I felt the pain in my foot.  *sigh*

Lessons from a "Wild" Mustang

37 minutes - 1.02 miles - Wasabi & Foster Kid
Wasabi met me at the rail as soon as she saw the halter ... well then, you get to go girl!  On the way to the front gate, we invited the foster child to join us.  He was dubious, but I told him we would climb sand dunes and he jumped in our conga line.
I explained about Wasabi's itchy spots and showed him how her lips twitch when you hit just the right spot.  He laughed at her expressions.
Then she stopped to go to the bathroom, and he was fascinated ... he's been with us six months and this is the first time he realized they poop.  This time I laughed out loud.
We climbed a few sand dunes and Wasabi would grab him by the shirt if he got too far away in her opinion.  He would laugh and step towards her which seemed to please her greatly.
Wasabi did stop twice on the way down the sand dune and rolled in the soft, warm sand.  I've never had a horse do that before and we all found it entertaining.  I was glad I had these two on the walk today.  Lots of laughter and joy, which was much needed.

Wind Tunnel? No Problem.

38 minutes - 1.66 miles - Morgan
Me: Psst, Morgie ... wanna ride?
Morgan: Have carrots?
Me: Yep, a whole pocket full.
Morgan: Let's roll!

No time constraints and no path in mind, just focusing on spending time with my best girl.  The wind was blowing like crazy.  At one point, we got caught in a wind tunnel that started three feet to our left.  We stopped moving, shut our eyes and waited for it to pass.  Love my Morgan!

We got home just as Bill was pulling in the front gate.  Morgan called out to him, then ran up to the window and asked for an ear rub.  Stinking adorable!
